It is now time to announce our Change Agent of the month for August 2015.
One of our participants from the Information Technology Management (ITM) training program, Ms. Chim Manavy from Cambodia is being selected as the Change Agent of the Month for August 2015.
Name: Chim Manavy
Organization: Open Institute in Cambodia
Change Project: Women’ s IT Knowledge Management
The change project focussed on capacity building and setting up a womens web portal women in Khmer language in Cambodia. Her work towards contributing a sustainable change using technology as a tool has continued beyond being a training participant at LIFE Academy.
Ms Chim Manavy played a key role representing Cambodia in the 56th session of the Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) that was held in Geneva from 30 September – 18 October 2013. Ms Chim Manavy, Executive Director of APC member organisation Open Institute in Cambodia jointed the meetings as a civil society observer for her country.
Her efforts to advocate on behalf of civil society and women’s rights organisations specifically have been very successful. CEDAW’s Concluding Observation has been released in which the Committee urged the government to “Explore the use of information communication technologies, including social media, in the dissemination of information on women’s rights and gender equality."
It is especially significant that this is the first time that ICTs has been mentioned in the Concluding Observation for Cambodia. Her passion to drive and lead a positive change has been commendable and we are proud to count Ms. Chim Manavy as our alumnus member.
LIFE Academy announces Ms. Chim Manavy as our Change Agent of the Month for August 2015 with great pride and honour!
Thank you very much and we wish you all the best!
