Renewable energy programme Sweden phase (REP1)

During three weeks, 30 participants from 6 different countries including Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Mozambique participated in the Renewable energy programme Sweden phase.

The group represented for example ministries, regulators, regional actors and agencies. Study visits, group work and lectures as well as social activities were mixed throughout the weeks. The Sweden phase was mainly focused on following up on the Change projects and developing project plans for implementation throughout the rest of the training programme. Besides working with their individual projects they also been given lectures in how to successfully work with sustainable project management. Study visits has also been done at Karlstad Municipality, Karlstad Energy and Glava Energy Center. All very informative and appreciated from both participants and the Swedish organizations.

– The programme is very good. It help undeveloped countries to know more about renewable but also to understand from a management point, and ourselves, that we can do any change in our country if we starts to change our behaviors, says Olga Francisco, Director at Electriciadade de Mocambique. 

Another focus of the programme is strengthening networks between the participants and their organizations with experts and relevant organizations in Sweden. 

– This programme make people to come together and working for one purpose. I will bring a lot of things to my team, first the experience in terms of management and how we can manage the people better, how we can communicate better, how we can engage and convince people to work for one purpose. But also that each one of us can make a huge difference and make a contribution, says Olga Francisco. 

The Sweden phase of the programme was being held in Sweden from September 23- October 11, 2019 and took place booth in Karlstad and Stockholm. The Renewable energy programme is implemented by LIFE Academy and sponsored by Sida.
